Tuberous Breast Correction
Breast shape and sizes varies from person to person. Tuberous or constricted breasts are breasts that have been restricted during growth and development. They are characterized by a narrow breast shape with restriction of the lower pole (bottom) portion of the breast. The breast tissue is often herniated into the nipple and the areola shape can be abnormal as well.
Surgery to correct tuberous breasts:
Surgery may require placement of an implant to add volume to the breast in conjunction with a release of the constricted portions of the breast. Revision is common and a procedure may need to be done for symmetry on the opposite breast if it isn’t similarly affected.
